Why: Although this married couple upset long-time listeners with their latest album, I think it has a fantastic vibe that is well-suited in their catalog, upping the ante for a more thoughtful and emotional Mates of State. I couldn't stop listening to the album in my head for three months when I first heard it.
Honorable Mention:
Two States by Pavement: Not my favorite Pavement record, but this was the door opener for what would become a truly great band. Slanted and Enchanted: a classic indie must-listen.
